About Green Code Knowledge, LLC

Peter Kulczyk, an author, educator, and code expert with three decades of experience in the construction and building code industry, created Green Code Knowledge, LLC, because he wanted to provide a source where builders, manufacturers, code officials, architects, municipalities and those folks that are involved with building codes, energy codes, green building codes and green building programs could find reliable, credible education, field inspection services, plan review, and code consulting services.

Having presented hundreds of programs to thousands of attendees, it is apparent that Peter’s strength is in his ability to communicate often complex code requirements into practical, easy to understand solutions. Peter has authored books on both commercial and residential green building practices, energy and residential building codes.

One of his goals is to encourage the construction of new homes that are more energy efficient, durable, and reduce the consumption of our natural resources by applying practical methods of construction that get the most bang for the dollar.

To whom it may concern:

From 2005 until 2008, when I worked as an Instructor with the State of Minnesota Building Code Division, I taught countless seminars with Mr. Kulczyk, and attended many more that he taught on his own prior to my employment there.  Peter has always been known by his peers, and the thousands of people he has conducted training session for, as one of the most knowledgeable instructors they have been trained by. Peter’s attention to detail and his ability to relate to a wide variety of audiences are just a part of his success.  His experiences in the field help him to explain complicated items in a manner that is understandable, makes sense and is applicable to the subject.  He is always approachable and takes the time needed to ensure that everyone in the audience understands fully what his message is.  Peter is very good at time management with his presentations and can speed up or slow down if needed without compromising the integrity of the program.  Peter is also very good at improvising.  I witnessed a presentation where the projection equipment provided to Peter failed during the program.  He just carried on through the balance of the program without the projector and screen.  It was one of the best presentations I have personally seen. I would recommend Peter as an instructor.  He has taught in front of small audiences and many presentations that exceeded 100 attendees.  He is always very well received.

To whom it may concern:

I have known Peter Kulczyk and his work as an educator of construction related subjects for well over 10 years.  Peter was hired as an Instructor with the Building Codes and Standards Division (now known as the Construction Codes and Licensing Division) with the State of Minnesota. He worked for me until his departure to the International Code Council in 2007.

Peter is well respected as an excellent educator by code officials, architects and builders throughout the state. The department consistently required feedback from participants at all of our educational offerings and Peter consistently received high praise from the hundreds of participants that attended our seminars each year.  I am sure that you will find him an excellent addition to your group’s educational outreach.

To Whom It May Concern:

Peter Kulczyk has taught many classes on building subjects over the last two decades. He did a large stent of teaching for the State of Minnesota Building Codes and Standards Division (Dept of Labor and Industry) while he worked there as an instructor.  He is still in demand.  During a recent ICC Region III Building Officials Institute, Peter taught two classes, that being a full-day program titled I-Codes and Green Buildings, and a half-day program titled Residential Building Codes for Green Homes. Since I am on the Education Committee, I am personally involved with reading all the class reviews, and I can say that people have high praise for his programs.  I personally have been in many of Peter’s classes throughout the years, and I can say he knows his topics well and keeps the attendees engaged in the subject.  He uses real life examples and is very good about fielding questions from the class and answering them in logical terms.  Peter always takes the time to research his code sections and enlightens many of us on the material he reviews for the committees.

To whom it may concern:

I am the State of Minnesota Energy Specialist and Sr. Bldg. Code Representative in the Construction Codes and Licensing Division (formally known as the Building Codes and Standards Division).  I have had the pleasure of not only seeing Peter Kulczyk teach courses on Building, Green and Energy Codes, but have been fortunate enough to work with him for several years, when he too worked here at the Building Codes and Standards Division as an Instructor on these and other codes.  Peter does a very nice job in how he develops and presents materials on these and many other topics. He is knowledgeable, does his research and develops some of the best programs I have ever attended or seen. He was awarded the Russell Smith Educator of the Year Award here in Minnesota as well.  He is an asset to the industry and the profession.
